Some people are in the right place at the right time. Others, not so much. Those unfortunate enough not to be in the right place at the right time are destined for mediocrity and failure. That is how most people see the world. But is that reality? Certainly not. Yes, we observe people who achieve monumental greatness due to their circumstances. Think about the Industrialists of the 1800s or the Technologists of the late 20th Century. Yes, they were born at a time where they would have a significant advantage in these emerging industries over those slightly older or younger than themselves. But so were a lot of other people. The difference? They chose greatness. They chose a life of hard work, constant learning and improvement, and sacrifice. That’s reality. So, instead of lamenting your personal circumstances, remember you have the power to choose greatness.
Adversity is a part of life. Failure is a part of life. Doubters and haters are a part of life. And if you focus on these things, you will look back one day with disappointment at the life that you have led. Instead, be positive. Find the good in all things. Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people. Open your heart to them. Love them. Share your purpose with them. Find their strengths and give them the opportunity to share their strengths with others. Above all, keep your eye on the road. You know where you are headed. Never lose focus on the vision that you have created for your life. Sure, there will be setbacks. And yes, you may not achieve all of your goals. Just keep your bus moving, fueled with positive energy. Make a difference in your life and the lives of those around you.
Knowing your purpose keeps you energized. It motivates you to develop your vision, to push through adversity, and to work through failures. Living a successful life without knowing your purpose is impossible. Your purpose keeps you grounded. It keeps you centered. It keeps you facing the right direction on your life’s journey. And it should be shared. Because you will never truly lead and you will never truly affect those around you without sharing your life’s purpose with them. It is all about leading with heart. Finally, remember that you cannot find your purpose by looking at the world around you. Your purpose is found within. And no, your purpose should not be to make lots of money. You will have to dig down deeper than that.
We are all born with individual talents. But we do not all use our talents to the best of our ability. Maybe we are unaware of what our true talents are. Maybe we lack the desire to use and develop our talents. Or maybe we have mentally buried our talents in the ground. When this happens, it is very difficult to raise up our talents again. We need encouragement. We need someone who loves us to help us see our natural abilities and encourage us to share our abilities with others. We need someone to help us shine. This is what we do for those that we love. We see the best in them, even when they are unable to see the best in themselves. We encourage them to discover their talents. We provide opportunities for them to share their talents with others. We want them to shine.
In The Energy Bus, Gordon discusses how powerful your heart really is. According to his book, your heart’s electromagnetic field is much more powerful than your brain’s. In fact, your heart’s electromagnetic field can be detected up to 10 feet away. So, positive energy truly radiates from within. It is how others can tell if you are being real or fake. They can feel it. So how do you open your heart? By being true to yourself and to others. In our journey, we all reach obstacles. These obstacles present an opportunity to grow or to stop growing. By choosing to overcome the obstacles in our path, our hearts grow. We become truer to ourselves. And we grow to become the people we were created to be. We have confidence. We have a natural energy. And through our example, we inspire others to become better.
